Why You Should Take Care of Yourself

I fell into CrossFit in September 2014.

It transformed my life. It saved me from a work burn-out and gave me the discipline I was lacking to better take care of my body.

I’ve been the fittest version of myself since.

The older I get, the fitter I am.

It feels so good that I 100% know I’ll never revert to the previous version of me. That’s how good it feels!

Being fit only has benefits: I’m significantly healthier, rarely sick. I think, sleep, eat, and work better. I feel good. I look good.

I can’t stop talking about it, sorry.

What I enjoy the most are the little daily activities such as taking the stairs without being out of breath, carrying my bicycle and the grocery bags effortless, or moving heavy objects around the house by myself.

I often hear entrepreneurs saying that they don’t have time to exercise.

Let me ask you a question: How can you take care of your family, your business, your team, make all the decisions you have to make, think clearly, and do all the 1000s things that you need to do if you don’t take care of yourself?

Like Tom Hayton, Storyteller and Consultant says on Inter:views: “I see all these brilliant people, who have some much to offer to the world, basically killing themselves for the sake of their business. You can be a high performer without pushing yourself into the red zone all the time.”

He’s into endurance running, judo, and Brazilian jiu-jitsu. He won a silver medal in the Commonwealth Judo Championships in 2019. He knows what he’s talking about.

Entrepreneurs should take care of themselves as professional athletes do.

Make being fit a priority because entrepreneurship is an elite profession. It requires being sharp at all times.

Let me be clear: You don’t need to hit the gym 5 times a week as I do. That’s my way of life.

Simply, find the sport that suits you the best and practice it regularly.

Do it at least to get your heads off work, release the entrepreneurship pressure.

Changes won’t happen overnight, but if you are disciplined about it and trust the process, they will.

You owe it to yourself, your family, your team, and your business to be healthy.

They all count on you.
